Every Hundred Years

From the Mailbag

Dear Mr. Clarke,

I am writing on behalf of Richard Brimeyer with respect to a project that may be of interest to you and your readers: a book that chronicles the Cubs' current season from a fan's perspective as the team strives for the World Series. The book is titled "Every Hundred Years", and is being self-published by Rick. The impetus for the project is Rick's brother-in-law Phil Doll, a tireless Cubs fan who has been struggling with Multiple Myeloma for a number of years. The book began as a series of "journal" entries on Caring Bridge, a social networking site for others contending with serious illness, but considerable interest on that site gave Rick the idea of turning it into a book as a way of offsetting Phil's medical expenses.

More information about the project, as well as sample entries, can be found on our website, www.everyhundredyears.com. If you think the project may be of interest to your Cubs Blog Army readership, we would greatly appreciate a link to our web site.

Thanks for your consideration!

Geovany Soto named Rookie of the Month

As a Proctor & Gamble shareholder and a HUGE Geo Soto fan, I figured I had to pass this one along!

Press Release from Lucy Musgrave of 'Moving Brands Forward'
The votes are in and your very own [Geovany] Soto has won the award for the month of August for a second time!

To help celebrate, Gillette will donate $5,000 to a charity of Geovany’s choice and present him with a trophy prior to one of the team’s upcoming home games.

Geovany beat out nominees Ian Stewart of the Colorado Rockies, fellow team mate Jeff Samardjiza and Chris Perez of the St. Louis Cardinals to win the MLB Rookie of the Month Award presented by Gillette
