Hi Byron -

I wanted to let you know that I have started a new "serious" Cubs blog called Bleacher Nation (www.bleachernation.com). I really enjoy doing the parody article thing at The Cubs Brickyard, but at the same time, I'm itching to do some serious articles and try out some new things that just wouldn't work at The Brickyard.

So as for what Bleacher Nation is all about...

Bleacher Nation provides "insightful, analytical, and humorous Cubs commentary." Just kidding. Yes, in large part, it'll be like most of the other Cubs blogs out there: we'll report the news, give our thoughts, try to be funny and interesting while we do it, and then show unnecessary but lovely pictures of hot chicks. Though that will be the bulk of what we do, something a little different is that we plan on also covering the "Cublogoverse," itself. So not only is Bleacher Nation the place to find news, rumors and gossip about the Cubs, it's also the place to find news, rumors and gossip about the blogs that love them.

Thanks so much for considering Bleacher Nation for inclusion in the Army (and for including The Brickyard).

I want my blog to keep Cubs fans up to date each and every day throughout the year on all Cubs rumors, new, ect. I will write recaps of all radio interviews and talk about the Cubs such as Sports Central on WGN Radio and Talking Baseball on ESPN 1000. I will collect all Cubs rumors from different sources and present them in one spot. I'm new at blogging and would like to just work my way up. - Brandon

From the Mailbag

Dear Mr. Clarke,

I am writing on behalf of Richard Brimeyer with respect to a project that may be of interest to you and your readers: a book that chronicles the Cubs' current season from a fan's perspective as the team strives for the World Series. The book is titled "Every Hundred Years", and is being self-published by Rick. The impetus for the project is Rick's brother-in-law Phil Doll, a tireless Cubs fan who has been struggling with Multiple Myeloma for a number of years. The book began as a series of "journal" entries on Caring Bridge, a social networking site for others contending with serious illness, but considerable interest on that site gave Rick the idea of turning it into a book as a way of offsetting Phil's medical expenses.

More information about the project, as well as sample entries, can be found on our website, www.everyhundredyears.com. If you think the project may be of interest to your Cubs Blog Army readership, we would greatly appreciate a link to our web site.

Thanks for your consideration!
